Lauren's Story

Lauren was born missing her lower right arm, however this has challenged Lauren to be the best she can be, and she relishes the chance to overcome barriers. She has competed at two Paralympic Games as a swimmer. She has since specialised in Paratriathlon and represented Team GB in the Sports inaugural entry to the Paralympic Games in Rio 2016.

Lauren’s passion for swimming started at just 4 years and she represented Team GB just 11 years later in her first Paralympic games as a swimmer aged just 15.

Lauren was encouraged to switch to Triathlon by her Uncle who saw her potential to achieve in all 3 sports. She entered her first triathlon, the British Championships, in 2011 and finished second. Lauren has since gone on to achieve great things including her first Olympic medal. She is now coached by former Olympian Robin Brew.

In her time away from being a world class athlete Lauren successfully studied for and achieved her Masters in Business after gaining her degree in Psychology. She has a love for baking and salsa.

Robin has coached Lauren since she was 14 years old where she was under his wing as a young swimmer at Mount Kelly in Devon. Lauren competed in the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Paralympics as a swimmers, but it was in 2016 that she struck the medals as a triathlete winning a Silver in the first ever Para-Triathlon event to be held in the Paralympic Games in Rio. Lauren’s results to date are impressive. She is the current 2018 World Champion and has won a further 2 x World and 6 x European Championship Triathlon titles. Lauren is now coached and trained by Robin full time and they are focused on the preparation required for the Paralympics in Tokyo 2020.

You may have seen Lauren more recently on the BBC show Strictly Come Dancing where Lauren and her dance partner AJ are still very much is the mix for the Glitter Ball Trophy.

When not gracing the dance floor and racing Internationally, Lauren will be in attendance at the training camps in La Santa, Lanzarote. Come and join her to experience some amazing training and coaching in the sun.
